The Lacrosse Recruiting Book We Wished We Had

Get Recruited to Play Women’s College Lacrosse

If your daughter dreams of playing women’s lacrosse in college, you already know how confusing the recruiting process can be.

  • Where do you start?
  • How do you get noticed?
  • Which events matter?
  • How do scholarships work?
  • And how can parents help without overstepping?

We, Susan Greene and Katie Murphy, wrote Committed: The Ultimate Guide to Getting Recruited for Women’s College Lacrosse to answer those questions and more.women's lacrosse recruiting

This book was born from personal experience. When my daughter Katie was in high school, she had the talent, the drive, and the dream of playing lacrosse at the college level. What she didn’t have was a clear roadmap. We searched for books, websites, coaches, and resources, but found very little information tailored to girls’ lacrosse. So, like many families, we had to piece it all together on our own.

Through persistence, research, and plenty of trial and error, Katie eventually connected with some well-connected club team coaches who helped her get in front of college recruiters. She went on to play Division I lacrosse at Butler University, where she competed as a midfielder for four years while earning bachelor’s degrees in both biomedical engineering and computer science.

Today, Katie is a biomedical engineer in Indianapolis. She also continues to give back to the sport she loves by coaching lacrosse at Marian University and with the Austrian National Team as they pursue qualification for the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.

Katie’s journey proved something important: talented athletes need more than ability. They need guidance.

That’s why we wrote Committed: The Ultimate Guide to Getting Recruited for Women’s College Lacrosse.

A Resource Created for Players and Parents

This book is for high school girls who want to play women’s lacrosse in college and for the parents who want to support them every step of the way.

Inside, we break the recruiting process into practical, manageable steps so families can move forward with more confidence and less guesswork.

In the book, you’ll learn:

  • How to get on a college coach’s radar
  • The role of club teams, tournaments, and showcases
  • Insider advice from coaches and players
  • How to position yourself for scholarships and financial aid
  • What to think about before committing to a school
  • How to succeed as a collegiate student-athlete
  • How parents can advocate, support, and prepare for the journey

Opportunities for Girl Student-Athletes

We recognized a real gap in the market. There were general resources on college recruiting for student-athletes, but very few that spoke directly to the realities of women’s lacrosse.

We wanted to change that. We wanted all girls to have the opportunity to achieve their true potential, athletically and academically.

Our goal was simple: create the guide we wish we’d had when Katie was starting out. A book that’s honest, practical, encouraging, and specific to the sport young women love.
